Association of Biochemistry Educators e-Meeting Awards

Purpose: To encourage active participation in the biennial Association of Biochemistry Educators (ABE) conference, awards are available to applicants who meet the following eligibility criteria.

Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants:

  • Must be an ABE member with the exception of students or professional experts, who may be sponsored by a member.
  • Must have authored and submitted an abstract for the conference by March 15
  • Cannot be a prior recipient of an ABE conference travel award.

Types of Awards

  • ABE Scholar/Student Award – covers conference registration.
  • ABE Grant-in-Aid – covers conference registration (financial need-based award).

Apply for an Award

All applications must include the following (see attached ABE Conference Travel Award Application):

  • Name, position, affiliation and contact information.
  • Submitted abstract (only one person per abstract will be considered).
  • Budget including any funding for conference travel from sources other than the ABE. (required for Grant-in-Aid Awards only).
  • Brief statement of justification for why the award is being requested (300 word maximum).

Additional Application Materials for Non-ABE Members:

For students:

  • Letter of recommendation from an ABE member sponsor who can speak about the applicant’s involvement in the work presented in his/her abstract.

For professional experts:

  • Letter of support from an ABE member sponsor who can speak to the expertise that the applicant will bring to the biennial conference.  The sponsor may be an abstract co-author.

Applications must be submitted via the website form.  The application deadline for e-Meeting Awards for the Association of Biochemistry Educators (ABE) Conference is March 15. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered. Applications will be reviewed by the ABE Board, and candidates will be judged on their scholarly contribution to the ABE meeting and/or financial need. Applicants will be notified by March 31 regarding the status of their abstract and application.
