Bonnie M. Miller, MD Bonnie Miller MD MMHC is Professor of Medical Education and
Administration Emeritus at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine (VUSM).
She attended Colorado College
for her undergraduate education, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Biology in 1976.
She received her M.D. degree at the University of Oklahoma, graduating in 1980.
She then moved to Nashville for six years of post-graduate training in general
surgery at Vanderbilt University Affiliated Hospitals. After completing her
residency, she spent one year in Seattle completing a fellowship in
hepato-biliary disease at the Virginia Mason Clinic. In 1987, Dr. Miller
returned to Nashville and for 12 years served as an attending surgeon at
Vanderbilt-affiliated teaching hospitals.
From 1999 until 2019, Dr. Miller served in a variety of
education leadership roles at VUSM, including Associate Dean for Medical
Student Affairs (1999-2006), Associate Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education
(2006-2008), Senior Associate Dean for Health Sciences Education, (2008-2019),
Associate Vice-Chancellor for Health Affairs (2013-2016), and Executive
Vice-President for Educational Affairs at Vanderbilt University Medical Center
(VUMC, 2016-2019). In the latter roles, she oversaw all programs related to the
continuum of physician education at VUSM/VUMC. In addition, she oversaw administration
of ten other degree programs offered by VUSM, as well as certificate programs
offered by VUMC’s Center for Programs in Allied Health. During her tenure, Dr. Miller guided VUSM through several cycles
of curriculum reform. Specifically, she led VUSM’s transition to Curriculum
2.0, an innovative program that moved core clerkships to the second year,
allowed individualized pathways through the 2-year post-clerkship phase, and
employed a competency-based approach to assessment. VUSM subsequently became recognized
as a leader in medical education and numerous US medical schools adopted
essential elements of this model. Dr. Miller has consulted with many schools
that seek to transform medical education in the US and abroad.
Dr. Miller served as the principal investigator for VUSM’s
Accelerating Change in Medical Education grant from the American Medical
Association, and was a founding board member of the Kern National Network for
Caring and Character in Medicine. In addition, she received grants that supported
her interests in the moral and professional development of physicians,
curriculum change, technology-enhanced learning, and continuous learning in
medicine. Most recently, she was the
principal investigator for a grant from IBM-Watson Health that resulted in the
creation of a list of interprofessional competencies for the use of artificial intelligence-based tools in clinical settings. Since
retiring from VUSM, Dr. Miller has served as a physician advisor for the
Tennessee Department of Health Office of Primary Prevention, helping on special
projects related to health equity, population health, and health professions
education.

Russell J. Ledet, MD, PhD, MBA
Dr. Russell J. Ledet is a native of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Prior to his education journey, Dr. Ledet was enlisted in the U.S. Navy, both on active and reserve duty. His first assignment was as a U.S. Navy Ceremonial Guardsman in the Nation’s Capital. He subsequently completed Navy cryptology training and was later assigned to the USS John L. Hall (FFG-32), based in Mayport, Florida. Dr. Ledet has been awarded multiple Navy Achievement Medals for his leadership, and tenacious work ethic. After 5 years of active duty service, Dr. Ledet transitioned to the USN Reserves, based in Corey Station, Pensacola, Florida, while also attending Southern University and A&M College, where he completed his Bachelor’s degrees in Chemistry and Biology. Dr. Ledet then went on to obtain his Ph.D. in Molecular Oncology and Tumor Immunology from NYU School of Medicine. His scientific work focused on prostate cancer biology and therapeutic development utilizing proteomics and bioinformatics. This work was recognized for funding by the Ford Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, as well as the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. His thesis work was most recently published in Nature Communications, titled “Identification of PIM1 substrates reveals a role for NDRG1 phosphorylation in prostate cancer cellular migration and invasion”. Upon completing his PhD, he then began his medical training journey at the Tulane School of Medicine and Freeman School of Business. During medical school, Dr. Ledet co-founded The 15 White Coats, a world-renowned organization that helps to propel underrepresented minority students to the next levels of education by providing inspiration and economic support. Dr. Ledet has been featured on CNN, MSNBC, People Magazine, NPR, Washington Post, The Steve Harvey Show, Good Morning America, and the Kelly Clarkson show. Following his Triple Board Residency program at Indiana University (Pediatrics/General Psych/Child and adolescent psychiatry), he plans to focus on mental health accessibility for marginalized communities. He is a husband of 14 years to Mallory Alise, and the father of two little girls, Maleah Ann and Mahlina Abri.

Subha Ramani, MBBS, PhD, MPH
Subha Ramani, MBBS, MPH, MMEd (Dundee), PhD (Maastricht), FAMEE is the current President of AMEE, the International Association for Health Professions Education. She is a general internist and educationalist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital; Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School; Adjunct Professor, Massachusetts General Hospital Institute for Health Professions Education, in Boston, MA, USA; Honorary Professor of Medical Education, University of Manchester, UK; External Faculty, SHE, Maastricht University, the Netherlands. She is a senior core faculty in the Harvard Macy program for educators. She has authored peer-reviewed papers and book chapters. Areas of scholarly interest include application of theory to educational practice, pedagogy and practice of clinical teaching, sociocultural factors that influence teaching, learning and feedback, mentoring relationships and increasingly, the intersection of culture and education from a global perspective. Her professional goals are driven by cultural humility and the desire to give back to the profession.
