Virtual Venue

The ABE/APHMG 2021 Virtual Meeting Committee is looking forward to bringing you a whole new Symposium in virtual format through the PheedLoop virtual engagement platform!

The meeting will run the week of May 3-7 (EDT). The week will include keynote and award lectures, panel sessions showcasing the accepted papers and poster sessions highlighting recent research. Special interactive networking events include the Monday evening Welcome Reception, Wednesday evening Social Event. Throughout the week, there will be lots of opportunity to network with colleagues and friends, visit our sponsor areas and engage in some other surprise activities.

Technical Requirements

PheedLoop's virtual platform is supported by any modern browser with high-speed internet. Google Chrome has been found to work the best as it is compatible with many third-party plugins that the event may integrate. Please note, Internet Explorer is not a supported browser. An internet download speed of at least 25 Mbps is also recommended.

PheedLoop works on all devices, including tablets and smartphones, however, it is recommended that attendees use laptops or desktop computers for the best experience.

For more information on PheedLoop technical requirements, please visit their website (NOTE: this will bring you to PheedLoop's external website which is not associated with ABE or APHMG).

Instructions on how to navigate the PheedLoop system will be provided to registered attendees, with specific instructions going to those with roles within the Virtual Meeting (i.e. Speakers, Exhibitors, Workshop Chairs, etc.). Attendees will receive access to the platform 1 week prior to the event.

NOTE: In order to complete the instructions, you MUST be registered (or have re-registered) for the Symposium AND have received the welcome email from the organizers. Otherwise, you will not have access to the PheedLoop platform.

  • 1 week before the meeting you will receive an invitation email with a personalized link. Be sure to login and take the platform for a quick spin before we get started.
  • Complete your profile in the virtual platform, including a picture of yourself. Since we are virtual, this helps others make more personal connections with you and put a face with a name.
  • Craft your personal conference schedule in the platform by reviewing and saving sessions to build the experience you want.
  • Determine when you will truly be at the conference. If you have others around you most of the day and/or are attending from a work environment, you will want to make sure you can be attentive, out of office, secluded or otherwise focused. If you were away or offsite at an event, you would have that clear separation. For a virtual conference, consider creating that separation for the sessions that are most critical to you.
  • Actively participate in sessions by responding to presenter questions, engaging in session chats, responding to polls, and any other interactive activities the presenter introduces.
  • Adhere to all guidelines, etiquette rules or other session expectations set by the conference provider, facilitator or moderator.
  • Complete session evaluations and the overall conference evaluation to benefit all attendees the next year as well as support presenters and event planners as they work on future conferences.
  • Network, even when it feels awkward! Whether networking is baked into the platform, setup as a separate platform or facilitated as a session, lean in.
